Day 15 Bush Camp past Roebourne to Miaree Pool (Joe) 60 km

Up at 1st light and on the road by 6.30 am. With only 30 km to Karratha I was planning a café breakfast. Despite my big day yesterday I was feeling good and arrived at the turnoff about 8.00 am. Rode up the hill and thru the pass overlooking the town. There was a view of the water and a church shaped like a rocketship.

In town I found a café and checked the menu. The prices and menu description were ridiculous so turned around and found another café next to the Woolies supermarket. Marvellous veggie brekkie and coffee.

After breakfast I asked for directions to a camping store. This shop had everything everywhere. It took me 5 minutes to find a camper gas stove and cylinder. Stocktake would be a nightmare, so much inventory all over the place. Good price so I was happy.

Back  to the supermarket for supplies. Now that I can cook I have more options.

It was baking hot in Karratha so I was happy to get on the bike and ride out of town. It was now 10.30 am and the wind was blowing me along. Decided to stop at 12.00 but there wasn’t much shade. Pulled in under some trees and ate a custard scroll and an orange, I checked the map and saw there was rest stop very close by so I got back on the bike.
Passed the 1000 km mark on this trip from Broome

Quickly arrived Miaree Pool which as a beautiful spot by a river. Popped under the Picnic shelter and chatted to Tracey and Trevor (not together). Went for a swim (magnificent) and  decided this spot was too nice to rush away from.

I was invited to dinner with Tracy (midwife), Les (retired dairy farmer), Dianne (Nurse et al) and Al (Dianne;'s travelling partner). Dinner was potato soup cooked by Les, fresh fish from the river with salad followed by fruit salad and custard. Later we were joined by another couple Pam and ?. A lovely evening of chat before heading off to bed.

Outside my tent tonight I can hear crickets, fish flapping and every now and the chirp of reed warblers. This is a magic spot and I have had a wonderful day.
